The beginning of economic education in Pinsk dates back to 1997. The representative office of Higher School of Management and Business of BSEU (Belarusian State Economic University) was opened at that time, and the first students came to obtain the following specialities: “Finance and credit”, “Accounting, analysis and audit” and “Economics and management in industry”. In 2000 the institution became an affiliate of Belarusian State Economic University, and, finally, on its basis the Economic Faculty of Polessky State University was founded in April 2006.

COURSES OF THE ECONOMIC FACULTY

Today the Economic faculty offers the following courses:

First level programmes (4 years, 8 semesters):

- ECONOMICS AND MANAGEMENT AT THE ENTERPRISE (specializations “Economics and management in industry” and “Economics and management in agricultural sector”)

- MARKETING (specialization “Marketing in industry”)

- TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY

Second level programmes (Master’s programmes) (1-1,5 years, 2-3 semesters):

- Master of Science in ECONOMY AND MANAGEMENT OF NATIONAL ECONOMY

Third level (Postgraduate programme) (3 years):

- Candidate of Science degree (considered here as equivalent to PhD) in ECONOMY AND MANAGEMENT OF NATIONAL ECONOMY

DEPARTMENTS:

- Department of economics and management in industry, headed by Valentina Druk, PhD;
- Department of economics and management in agricultural sector, headed by Dmitry Kuzyomkin, PhD;
- Department of management and marketing, headed by Svetlana Vertai, PhD;
- Department of economic theory, headed by Yuri Cheplyansky, PhD;
- Department of humanities, philosophy and law, headed by Vyacheslav Lozitsky, PhD.

CENTRES & LABORATORIES:

- Centre of Tourism, which includes a Laboratory of Regional Tourism and a Travel Agency
- Laboratory “Business Centre”, which implements the project “Business-consulting education”

In the academic year of 2011-2012 the faculty trains 1564 students - 971 full-time students and 593 part-time students. All the students of the faculty are provided with comfortable hostels.

The faculty is the organizer of the annual international scientific conference “ECONOMICS AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT: STATE, PROBLEMS AND PERSPECTIVES” (April).

Most students of the faculty are involved in students’ research work. In the academic year of 2010-2011 three students were the winners of the national competition for the best higher school students’ research. 62 students were awarded prizes at national and international scientific conferences and contests.
